Grief is a lifelong commitment you don’t get the choice to opt out of.

Losing someone close to you is both something so final and unchangeable, but also so ongoing, so never ending, that sometimes it feels like you’ll never be the same again. There are times when the light shines and things feel lighter, more manageable, and then the next thing you know, you’re overtaken, drowning and unsure if you’ll ever make it to shore. Grief is something so indescribable, so unknown until you experience it. This can feel incredibly isolating - how is anyone supposed to help you if they can’t understand you (or if you don’t even know what you need yourself)?

Our Approach

At Jasper Therapy Group, it’s our goal to give you space to explore your new normal. Sometimes people feel like they’re trying to outrun their grief, and one day they’ll finally get away from it. Usually, grief is something that stays with you forever, and the sooner we learn to walk with grief instead of running from it, things get a little more manageable. The goal is not for you to “get over” losing who you lost. The goal is to explore your new normal, make space for your feelings, and figure out how to let them out without letting them take you over. Just because grief is something you’ll feel forever, it doesn’t mean it will be intense forever. Space, effective coping skills, and time can help you breathe a little easier.

In addition to offering individual counseling for grief and loss, we also hold a grief support group once per month to connect you with others experiencing something similar.

You don’t have to do this alone. Let us help you navigate your new normal.
